MRP Orders Causing Shortages — New Drilldown¶
A drilldown has been added to the MRP Orders Causing Shortages report. When you double-click a row on the report, PULSE Dashboard now opens a focused MRP Details view scoped to the item, location, and week that produced the shortage — saving you the manual step of re-running the MRP Details report with matching filters.
What the drilldown does¶
When you double-click a row, PULSE Dashboard opens a new tab automatically filtered to:
- The item on the row you clicked, plus any related items in the bill of materials (parents and components).
- The location on the row, when Loc is included as a column on the report.
- The week containing the row's MRP transaction date, using the production-week start day defined in your calendar settings.
The new tab is labeled with the location, item number, and the week's start date — for example, (MAIN) #BIKEMP Week of 4/27/2026 — so you always know what you're looking at. If Loc is not on the source report, the location label on the tab title reads ALL to make it clear that no location filter was applied.
A sensible default layout the first time you use it¶
The first time you open a drilldown, PULSE Dashboard applies a default layout so you see useful information right away. The default groups by Item # and includes seventeen of the most frequently used MRP detail columns:
| # | Column |
|---|---|
| 1 | Byr Plnr |
| 2 | Item Desc 1 |
| 3 | Loc |
| 4 | Item Pur or MFG |
| 5 | MRP - Ord Type |
| 6 | MRP - Demand/Replenish Date |
| 7 | O/H Qty (Loc) |
| 8 | MRP - Qty Demand/Replenish |
| 9 | MRP - New Qty On-Hand (Loc) |
| 10 | MRP Ord # |
| 11 | Safety Stk |
| 12 | PO Lead Tm |
| 13 | Cust # |
| 14 | OE Ord # |
| 15 | Par Item # |
| 16 | Org Ord # |
| 17 | PO Ord # |
After the first use, any layout changes you make — visible columns, grouping, sort order, column widths, filters — are saved per user and automatically restored the next time you open the drilldown.
Color coding to highlight shortfalls at a glance¶
Rows in the drilldown are color-coded to make supply-and-demand status immediately visible:
| Row type | Appearance |
|---|---|
| Demand row that is covered (projected on-hand at or above the minimum quantity) | Light green background |
| Demand row that is short (projected on-hand below the minimum quantity) | Salmon background |
| Forecast row | Bold text |
| Available-To-Promise (ATP) row | Bold text on a light gray background, indicating the row is a planning placeholder rather than real demand |
The minimum-quantity threshold respects the Item/Location Minimum Quantity Mode set on the module (Zero, Safety Stock, or Reorder Level), or defers to the global MRP setting if the module is configured to do so.
Required columns on the source report¶
Two columns must be visible on the MRP Orders Causing Shortages report for the drilldown to function: Item # and MRP - Demand/Replenish Date. If either is hidden, PULSE Dashboard displays a clear message explaining what to do, instead of opening an empty drilldown.
Getting started
No setup or configuration is required. The drilldown becomes available automatically after the upgrade. Simply open the MRP Orders Causing Shortages report and double-click any row.
