Reports for managing shop floor activities

Adapted from the Pulse Dashboard fact sheets "Reports to help you better manage your shop floor activities" (August 2023) and "Sample reports that allow you to analyze shop floor labor hours" (October 2020).

Five reports for managing shop floor activity day to day. All of them need the Production and Designer modules; the custom ones are available for a fee, and were built with the Designer module's Query Analyzer and Advanced Screen Designer.

Standard reports

Hours variances. Labor hour variances, for production management to track in-process orders each day. It also tracks variances for the same item number over a long period, which is how you spot a routing that has drifted away from reality.

Dollar variances. Shop orders with dollar variances for labor, material and the rest — for financial and production management, over the current month or longer.

Shop Floor Order View. The standard report that pinpoints shop orders with large labor variances, and jobs where production was reported but no labor was.

Custom reports

Employee efficiency. All labor transactions for each employee for one day or a range of days, pinpointing employees and departments that need attention.

Labor variances. Summary labor statistics by department in the top panel; drill into a department for labor variances by shop order, and from there into the individual labor transactions for each employee.

Getting the data in the first place

These reports are only as good as what reached the general ledger. The daily posting routine is in Posting Shop Floor Control transactions to the general ledger.
