Pulse Dashboard Administration

Adapted from the Pulse Dashboard Administrator Guide (PDF, December 2020) and the Scheduler installation and operating instructions (PDF, November 2024).

Everything on these pages is done by a Pulse Dashboard administrator: adding users and deciding what each one may see, setting the company-wide rules the reports calculate from, and running the tools that keep the system current. Almost all of it can be done from any workstation on the network — updating the software itself is the exception, and has to run on the server.

Your company needs at least one administrator, and two is better. If the administrator password has been changed from the default, nobody outside the company holds it and there is no master password behind it.

Pages in this section

  • Users and security — adding users and groups, Publisher and Admin rights, report-level access, G/L account security, the activity log, and administrator mode
  • Company settings — the fiscal calendar, the MRP dates behind every demand and replenishment figure, location grouping, lot and serial holds, and the default screens new users start with
  • Maintenance and tools — cached data, user settings and profiles, the Query Analyzer, Save and Share Explorer, the Archive Report, the Auditor, licences and software updates
  • Report Scheduler — emailing reports on a schedule, filtered per recipient

What an administrator can do that a user cannot

The Admin selection on a user gives access to the Administration menu and to the settings that apply to everyone:

  • The fiscal calendar definition
  • The MRP dates that decide what counts as demand and replenishment
  • The default screens assigned to new users
  • Software and licence updates
  • The administrator password
  • Column captions in the Column Chooser, which are renamed for every user at once
